Ganesh Chaturthi is just around the corner, and we are all busy making arrangements to welcome our cute little Bappa.

Apart from the decorations, Ganpati Bappa likes to be served with different types of bhogs from devotees.

This year, Hafele decided to help you out with some of our unique products that will ease your bhog preparations.

Dry Fruit Steamed Modak

Let's start with Bappa's most favorite dish, Modak! This delicacy, one of the chief attractions of Ganesh Chaturthi, is loved by both Bappa and his devotees!

Ingredients:

Dough ingredients-

  • 1 cup Rice Flour
  • 1.5 cups of water
  • Salt as per taste

Stuffing Ingredients-

  • 2 tablespoons ghee
  • 100 gm khoya
  • 2 cups of finely chopped nuts of your choice (you can use almonds, cashews, pistachios, charoli, raisins, and dates). The nuts should together fill 2 cups.

See that these nuts are chopped finely and if possible, with uniform size. Use Hafele’s Klara highline kitchen machine’s chopper blade to get this uniformity.

  • ¼ cup grated fresh coconut
  • ¼ cup of Sugar

Method:

  • First, let’s prepare the dough
  • Take water in a pot and bring it to a boil. Add salt.
  • Keep the flame low and add rice flour slowly while sautéing.
  • Our goal is to mix the rice flour with water thoroughly.
  • Once blended into a soft mixture, keep aside and let it cool slightly.
  • When still a bit warm, knead it slowly into a soft dough. See that you don’t burn your fingers.
  • Keep your hand pressure soft.
  • Once the dough is soft and smooth, cover it with a moist cotton cloth. Let it rest while we prepare our stuffing.
  • Now, in another pan, take ghee. Add the chopped nuts and sauté on low flame until a mild roasting fragrance emerges. Remove and keep aside.
  • Roast khoya, coconut and sugar together.
  • As the khoya melts, keep stirring. Do not let it burn. Let it solidify into a soft mixture.

You can store this stuffing mixture in Hafele's ARG650NF Free Standing Refrigerator for a longer time and use it even after Ganpati Visarjan whenever you remember Bappa.

  • Now, let’s assemble Modaks with the help of Modak Moulds.
  • Grease the mould from inside with ghee
  • Now place a small dough ball into it, and press it gently from centre so as it takes up the walls of the mould from all sides.
  • Fill the centre cavity with the stuffing
  • Lock the mould so that the dough and stuffing get into Modak shape.
  • Repeat the procedure and get all the 21 Modaks ready

As you are done with all the 21 Modaks, place them in a tray and steam them in your J34MCST Combi steam microwave from Hafele at 180 degrees for 20-25 mins.

Steaming food in a Hafele steam oven helps to cook four times faster than traditional cooking as the heat penetrates deeper into the food, removes excess fat, and retains its original nutrients.

Your delicious Modak bhog is ready!

Badam Halwa

Next in line is yet another delicious dish, Badam Halwa. It is also one of the bhogs traditionally made for holy festivals.

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup almonds
  • 1 cup of hot water
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1½ tablespoons ghee / clarified butter
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 2 strands of saffron dissolved in 1/4th cup of milk
  • ¼ teaspoon cardamom powder
  • Finely chopped dry fruits

Method:

  • Soak almonds in hot water for about half an hour
  • Peel the almond skin and transfer them to your Hafele’s Eleganz 800 Mixer & Grinder
  • Add ¼ cup milk and blend into smooth paste
  • Transfer this blend into a kadhai and put it over low flame

Use Hafele's Vortex 000 BUILT IN 4 Brass Burners Gas Hobs for this, as it will take a while to thicken the halwa, and we don’t wish to burn it.

Its Vertex flame aids in even heat distribution across the pan's surface and consumes 12% less fuel than any regular brass burner, and doesn’t let the food burn.

  • Add ghee. Then add sugar while sautéing continuously till the sugar dissolves completely
  • Add the saffron milk and sauté on low flame till the mixture thickens
  • Add ghee on the top. Mix well
  • You will see the ghee oozing out from the sides
  • Now add the cardamom powder
  • Mix once and garnish with dry fruits!

Your Badam Halwa bhog is ready to be served to Bappa!

Basundi Poori

Don’t miss out on making below recipe for Bappa and make the bhog more special.

Ingredients:

  • A Half litre condensed milk
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • ½ teaspoon cardamom powder
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg powder
  • Cashews, pistachios, almonds, and charoli, as per your wish, just take care you don’t stuff the Basundi with only dry fruits.
  • 5/6 saffron strands

Method:

  • Add whole milk and condensed milk to a thick bottomed kadhai. Stir and mix with a wired whisk so that the condensed milk is mixed evenly with milk.

Keep in mind the mixture thickens while cooking, so add the milk accordingly. Also, use Hafele’s Vortex 000 BUILT IN 4 Brass Burners Gas Hob for this recipe in order to save energy and not get the Basundi browned or burned from the bottom.

  • Keep the flame low and bring the milk to boil. Simmer for half an hour until it starts thickening.

You will see the milk solids accumulated on the kadhai's sides. Remove them with a spoon and add again to the milk. You will also see cream collecting on the top. Add this cream too to the milk.

  • Once the milk is reduced to about ¼th, added the nutmeg powder, cardamom powder, and saffron strands.
  • Boil the milk for some more time until you see the color change
  • Top with crushed nuts and transfer to Hafele's ARG650NF Free Standing Refrigerator for a chilled basundi during a meal.

Meanwhile, let's make Poori.

  • Knead the smooth dough with your Klara Highline kitchen machine with the dough ingredients.
  • With a rolling pin, roll out small ball size Pooris. Keep aside. Sprinkle some dry dough so that they don't stick to each other.
  • Put oil in Hafele's SAUVE 01 Deep Fryer and let it heat adequately. Deep fry Pooris to get well-puffed.

The deep fryer is equipped with an oil temperature lamp set by a thermostat that controls the oil temperature so that food cooks to the apt temperature.

  • Your Basundi Poori recipe is ready for Bappa!

With Hafele, even the most tiresome recipes become extremely easy and convenient to make. This Ganesh Chaturthi, celebrate every moment with Bappa and let Hafele handle all the kitchen worries.
