Celebrate Gudi Padwa with Hafele’s Vortex Gas Hob

Gudi Padwa, an important festival celebrated in the state of Maharashtra, is an auspicious occasion that marks the start of a new year for Marathis. This day is celebrated with a grand display of love and affection towards family and friends. One would also notice special Gudi flags being hoisted, consisting of a silk banner with a garland of flowers and leaves, and each of them is topped with an upturned drinking pot. This is a symbolic representation of the words Gudi Padwa - Gudi (flag) and Padwa (the first day of the moon).

Guilt-free Shrikhand



Ingredients

  • Saffron (Kesar) large pinch
  • Yogurt 1 kilogram
  • Sugar substitute sucralose 1/3 cup
  • Warm milk 2 tablespoons
  • Nutmeg powder a pinch
  • Green cardamom powder 1/4 teaspoon
  • Almonds blanched, peeled, and sliced 5-6
  • Pistachios blanched, peeled, and sliced 8-10

Method

  • Tie the yogurt in a piece of muslin cloth and keep it in your Hafele refrigerator ARG650NF overnight over a bowl to drain.
  • Transfer the drained yogurt into a bowl. Add the sugar substitute and mix well.
  • Heat some milk on your Hafele Vortex Hob and soak the saffron in warm milk.
  • Once cool, add to the yogurt mixture and mix well.
  • Add the nutmeg powder and cardamom powder; mix well and chill in the Hafele refrigerator ARG650NF.

Sabudana Vada with Chutney



Ingredients

  • Sabudana soaked 2 cups
  • Ginger-green chili paste 1 tablespoon
  • Roasted peanuts crushed 1/4 cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Sugar 1 tablespoon
  • Potatoes boiled and peeled 2 medium

For chutney

  • Grated coconut 1 cup
  • Fresh coriander leaves chopped 2 tablespoons
  • Green chilies 2-3
  • Salt to taste

Method

  • Put sabudana in a large mixing bowl, add ginger-green chili paste, peanuts, salt, and sugar.
  • Mash the potatoes and add to the sabudana mixture and mix everything well.
  • Divide the mixture into equal portions, shape them into balls and flatten them lightly.
  • Add sufficient oil in a kadai and heat it on your Hafele Vortex Hob.
  • Slide the vadas into the hot oil and deep-fry till golden. Drain on absorbent paper.
  • Put coconut, coriander leaves, green chilies, and salt in a Hafele Eleganz 800W Mixer Grinder jar to make the chutney.
  • Add a little water and grind to a fine paste. Transfer into a small bowl.
  • Arrange the vadas on a serving plate and serve hot with chutney.

Bhajnee Thalipeeth



Ingredients

  • Bhajnee flour 3 cups
  • Onions
  • Salt to taste
  • Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon
  • Onion chopped 1 medium
  • Olive oil 2 teaspoon

Method

  • Add salt, turmeric powder, onion, and two teaspoons of olive oil with bhajnee flour in your Hafele Klara Highline Machine bowl to knead. Add water as required, a little at a time, and form into a soft dough.
  • Divide dough into eight equal portions. Flatten each portion, on a moist banana leaf or a thick polythene sheet, into quarter-inch thick discs of four to five inches diameter. Make a hole in the center of each thalipeeth.
  • Heat a tawa on your Hafele Vortex Hob, spread a little oil, and transfer the thalipeeth carefully onto the tawa. Spread a little oil on the sides of thalipeeth and cook on low heat for one minute. Turn the thalipeeth and cook the other side for one minute or till crisp and golden brown.
  • Serve hot with a chutney of your choice.
