The Hafele Twist To Festive Treats For This Season

It's that time of the year when the festivities start, and we're looking for reasons to binge on sweets and crispy snacks. Whether its Navratri or Diwali, our homes abound with fresh aromas of delicacies and are filled with a pleasant hustle-bustle that gives a comforting vibe during festivals.

But soon, the preparations tend to reach a climax and often threaten to culminate in a frenzied hassle in our kitchens! So, we're here to save you the holiday stress with an all-in-one-kitchen machine - Klara that will quickly help you create all your festival dishes with ease. 1. Mathri

The recipe makes about 15 to 20 Mathris.

Time required: 45 minutes.

There's no greater pleasure than biting into crispy Mathris and hearing that satisfying crunch! Here's what you need to make this traditional Rajasthani snack:

  • 1 cup All-purpose flour (maida)
  • 1 tbsp Cumin seeds (ajwain)
  • 1 tbsp Carrom seeds (jeera)
  • 2 tbsp Ghee
  • ½ cup Water (approx)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method:

  • Add everything except the water to the Klara mixing bowl.
  • Give the dough kneader a light spin so that it blends the dough well to a breadcrumb consistency.
  • Add sufficient water to the mix. Make sure you add it slowly and at regular intervals for the dough to be kneaded well.
  • Keep the dough aside for 20 minutes.
  • Start rolling portions of the dough into thick discs.
  • Cut small circles out of the disc and fry them up at low to medium flame.
  • Enjoy your tasty Mathris!

2. Instant Chakli

The recipe makes around 15 to 20 Chaklis

Time required: 45 minutes to 1 hour.

Binge-eating crisp and slightly spiced chaklis is a festival mood.

With Klara, it gets done in half the time when compared to the one kneaded by hand. Here are the ingredients you'll need:

  • 2 cups Rice flour
  • 1 cup All-purpose flour (maida)
  • ½ tsp Turmeric
  • 1 tsp Chilli powder
  • 2 tbsp Sesame seeds
  • pinch of Asafoetida (hing)
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp Melted butter
  • ½ cup of Water

Method:

  • Add all the ingredients except the water in the mixing bowl.
  • Start the dough kneader and let it all blend into a light and moist mix.
  • Add the water slowly to the bowl and let it knead into a soft dough.

  • Take a star mould and grease it with oil.
  • Take portions of the dough, roll them in cylindrical shapes and put them in the mould.
  • Press out the chakli in spiral shapes, and deep fry them.
  • Make sure to flip them over and fry till they’re nicely crisp and golden.
  • Serve crispy and crunchy chaklis with a cup of hot tea

3. Rajgira Puris

  • The recipe portions serve two.
  • Time required: 30 minutes
  • During Navratri, we're often looking for wholesome fasting dishes that will not only be tasty but also satiate our bellies. And pooris made from Amarnath flour (Rajgira Atta) works wonders to keep us full for a long while. Here's what you'll need:
  • 2 cups Amarnath flour (rajgira atta)
  • ½ tsp Rock salt
  • ½ tsp Chilli powder
  • 1 tbsp Coriander leaves
  • 1/4th cup of Water (approx)

Method:

  • Add these ingredients to the mixing bowl and start the dough kneader.
  • Keep adding the water and let the mixture knead into a hard dough. The texture will feel slightly harder than a chapati dough.
  • Switch off the dough kneader and add a tsp of oil to the dough.
  • Let it rest only for 5 minutes.
  • Start rolling the pooris and fry them till they’re a reddish-brown.
  • Accompany the pooris with some masala aloo for a tasty meal.
  • Serve these rajgira puris with some masala aloo or any vegetable curry for a tasty meal.

4. Besan laddoos

The recipe makes around 15 laddoos.

Time required: 1 hour.

What is the festive season without gobbling up one or two laddoos? (Or maybe 20) This is an easy recipe for you to make no-hassle besan laddoos. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • ½ cup Ghee
  • 2 cups Besan
  • 1 cup Powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp Cardamom powder
  • 1 tbsp Chopped pistachios

Method:

  • Add the ghee along with the besan into a pan and keep the flame on low.
  • Roast them together for around 30 minutes till the ghee starts releasing from the mixture and the besan becomes golden brown.
  • Transfer these ingredients to the Klara mixing bowl and let it rest for 15 minutes till it cools down.
  • Add the sugar, cardamom powder, and pistachios to the mixture.
  • Start the dough kneader and let it blend the mixture slightly to a soft moist dough.
  • Make little balls from the dough like mixture.
  • Top each laddoo with a pistachio or two and you’re done!
